Mise En Scene
The music video generally tells a story- therefore following a clear narrative, mainly the stages of a couple (Katy Perry) being one of them, falling in love. As well as this the narrative reflects the lyrics- not entirely to the point where the lyrics are the storyline, it is clear the video is telling the story although the lyrics are relative.
Edititing
Editing throughout varies between extremely fast pace and slow. The variety allows enigma to be created and by isolating certain shots by editing them at a faster or slower pace between shots of a different pace allows them the be seen as more important to the narrative and therefore superior to the other shots, Although I'm not saying the shots are less important as it's due to the composition and arrangement of the shots during the editing process that allows the narrative to be established.
Camerawork
A variety of shots and editing are used throughout the music video to create a pace and upbeat vibe. Shots such as close ups and extreme close ups are used to create enigma- therefore not making the goings on of the scene so obvious to the watcher so they can use there imagination during certain shot types such as these two.
Point of view shots (POV) are also used in the video- this is to make it feel like you are in the video therfore creating a sense of realism and creating a pace and platform for editing during the clip.
Long shots are used a lot throughout this video, they allow a lot of things to be established and therefore realeasing the enigma create. For example they set the scene and portray the narrative, making it simplistic but very affective at the same time.
Handcam is also used as a form of realism, and again makes it as though the watcher is in the shot.
Two shots are also used to change location quickly and smoothly as well as in certain parts the narrative or goings on of the shot are kept similar for effect, and clever editing.
