Evidence of Filming

Unfortunately when filming I was too focused on getting location shots, photographs for my other productions and the actual filming shots I didnt get evidence of filming at every location but here is one I did get:

I used a nikon camera and ALWAYS used a tripod but adjusted the angle and size of it when appropriate in order to vary shot types.

More Audience Research

I attended a recent concert of the artist in order to carry out further research into the artist, I watched Example in Manchester Academy, a smaller venue. The set was simplistic and quite dark, which is something that did effect the change of my music video as I felt keeping things simplistic had a greater effect, and clear narrative that doesn't over complicated the song, genre and audience's reaction.

Here are some photographs I took:

We can see the audience is mixed gender but prodominantly teenagers

Final Digipak Design

Here is my final digipak design, I used a template off google to create a simple foldable one which would be made out of glossy cardboard, which would aim to prevent water damage etc. I kept to the same colour scheme as the music video in order to create continuity between the digital pieces as well as this I kept the conventions of digipaks, which I had researched when looking at other artists digipaks. Conventions such as barcode. tracklist and time of individual tracks- with names I came up with of other tracks in order to fit the genre, artist and album name, copyright symbol, reference number, web address. Rather than using the actor that plays the 'artist' being Example in the music video I used the couple in the video again, this could create continuity over the album itself as well as creating the artist image with a sense of enigma.

Digipak second design

Here is my design for the back I intend to include all the key features: barcode copy right symbol website design etc and have a simplistic photo of beeston castle.

Here is an overview of my whole digital design.

Here is the front I will take a mid shot of the couple on the sandstone trail in Cheshire-one of the locations

Again the spine of the digital will include the key features; name of artist and album as well as the reference number

Again inside will be simplistic with a photo of the couple walking down the sandstone trail

Amber a media student

Lewis a male non Example fan and media student

Jessie a media student and fan of Example

New Visual Style

I really like the country feel of many music videos I researched on youtube simply whe watching my artists they came up as suggested. I like the juxtaposition created with the country feel and look of the video and narrative compared with the lyrics and upbeatness of the song: much like Ben Howards music videos. I DO NOT like when the narrative of the music video tells the story of the lyrics in the song that was something I wanted to avoided but I feel bits of continuity e.g. He is singing about being in love and how this woman means everything to him- this is something I wanted to capture still, much like my previous visual style ideas. I feel focusing on the couple in the narrative keeps it simple and helps the audience focus although I wanted to cutaway to the lipsycning like many music videos having the singer seperate from the actor so its not like he's singing about himself- creating enigma.

here are some screenshots from Ben Howards 'Keep Your Head Up' a song that came on youtube suggestions when watching my own. As you can see the country theme works really well and I intend to use overlays to experiment with lighting.

He straight away uses hand cam- combined with overlays the rustic feel created too works really well. He also juxtaposes lighting really well- hard bright lighting and soft darker lighting, something I itend to experiment in my music video with artificial and natural lighting.

I also like how Ed Sheeran experiments with colour correction the mix of colour and black and white clips, something I could too do with my music video. Handcam is also used, again with overlays it doesnt look messy- I really like the way it looks.

Here is an example of the black and white overlay and the focus on just two actors to keep it simple

Here I really like how it is out of focus and the look it has created with the lights

I really like the vast use of overlays in Ed Sheerans Homeless music video as well as the contrast of artificial natural lighting, hard lighting and soft. (For Example Below)
